i was given the opportunity to hand feed 3 lovebird babies and also keep them.

2 boys (also brothers)
1 girl (not related to the boys)

the boys were about 2 weeks old and the girl a bit older (by a week or so).

all 3 got the same amount of attention & care.

they are now 2 months and a week old and also weaned!

the girl - she is fearless, naturally steps up, playful and all around crazy (in a good way), and also adores me! LOVES hands!

the boys - they are shy, very gentle & don't dare to even bite, they are just little angels.

BUT - the boys for some reason, afraid from hands! they have no problem if i give them kisses, they cuddle in my hair, on my shirt, they take food from my hand, sometimes fly to me!
but the second i put my fingers closer they fly away!

can someone explain me what's going on?! is this just how they are? and how to try and make it better?

thank you!

Hi :)
Have you tried target training? It’s fun and stimulating for the birds and allows them to get more interaction with the hands.
Keep offering treats from your hands, they’ll get used to it quickly if they associate your hand with fun stuff.
Good luck!

Some birds just dont like hands target training and then step up training may help.
