Hi! Recently took my Pineapple Green Cheek Conure out of her cage this morning and I noticed a wheezing noice every time she breathes, however I have noticed a slight noise of it last night when she was going to sleep, no change in poop, no difference in her eyes, but she does have a bit of tail bobbing.

I took her to the vet and they couldn't find anything they didn't x-ray her or anything they just heard me describe the current problems but they gave me some medication mixed in with water to give her, is this the way to go I'm afraid that this is the wrong solution and she may pass.

Air Sac Mites? Just humidity problems? Dust? Please help quickly!

What a scary situation! The vet you took your conure to, is he/she an avian specialist?

If you are still worried, I'm sure you can contact the avian vet to ask for an X-ray to rule things out or discuss other options. And maybe it is possible for you to get a second opinion from another avian specialist?

I hope everything will be fine soon.

I will try to call in on other vets around to see if they treat any birds but yes she was a avian specialist, very scary for me especially with a hurricane coming in starting tonight so I probably have to do it quick before it begins, thanks for replying!

Did she explain to you why she didn't run any tests? I would think she would have at least done a gram stain. What kind of medicine is it?

She gave me antibiotics mixed with water to give to her for the next 5 days however I'm afraid that's not the way to go and my baby may pass before that, currently she is wheezing more than before and I am frightened.

If you can't find another vet, I would call the first vet and tell her that your bird is worse. My vet would prescribe antibiotics for my bird that when in water when he had a bacterial infection because he was allergic the meds that you usually give by syringe. Is your bird drinking the water? How long has she been on the antibiotics? Where are you located? Perhaps we can suggest a vet near you.

@Birdbabe ?

Unfortunately, mixing any meds with water doesn't gaurentee they will work, birds drink when thirsty, not when the vet wants..I would get a second opinion on your baby. Wheezing could be allergies, a yeast infection of the crop, aspergillus,,,the list goes on. I pray for her recovery, please get another opinion.

Thanks so much for your advice, I live in humble suffering a hurricane right now, she has been taking the anti-biotics for a day but is it possible it's from dry air etc? She's 2 years old going on, and All of a sudden this happens I'm confused, can't see a vet but I'll definitely see if I can call them

Glad to say my baby bird, Ravioli is feeling better now, no more wheezing, or tail bobbing, flew perfectly fine and didn't wheeze afterwards!
Thanks to everyone who commented suggesting things!
