Welcome to the avenue!

You don't need eggfood, it should be fed maybe once a week. Seeds should not make up the whole diet, look into getting some pellets like roudybush or harrisons. She/he also needs fresh veggies in their diet.

We can confirm boy or girl with a picture of their face in natural sunlight.

Welcome!!!!

Splendid are wonderful birds! They’re part of the grass parakeets family, so you really should have a seed mix that is as varied as possible. I would search or build a mix that had at least 8-10 different seeds. They’re granivores and do well with a diet of about half seeds. Especially if you have them in an aviary flying free. I would recommend that you offer fresh lettuces daily in addition to other leafy greens and grasses. Since you cannot obtain pellets, your focus should be on the veggie and grass side of things. I would love more photos! It’s been a long time since I’ve seen a bird like yours- does he have the pied gene? How old is he?
