I need help! My baby Jack’s eye was red under the eye on Wednesday maybe from scratching. Now it looks like he’s losing feathers. Can someone tell me what’s going on or what I should do please

I think you need to see an Avian vet tbh.

Yes vet all eye stuff is serious .
This is also pretty classic for chlamydia infection.

It has already been a few days without improvement- eyes are always avian vet territory and the sooner they are seen to the better.
I hope you can get your little one in to see the vet very soon and get some help for that eye, it looks irritated for sure.

I would like to say none of us are vets and you should always take your birds to the vet. Not avoid it!

Have you tired bathing it in cooled(warm) boiled water and a cotton wool pad may help in the mean time

I always use salt water for my dogs but not sure if salt water ok for birds

definitely booked a vet appointment just to be safe

I would not rub around the eye with anything.

Whether this is a scratched cornea, or other injury with inflammation or infection. Or a symptoms of the systemic infection of chlamydia. If the latter they can get very sick very quickly.

You do need to get in to an Avian veterinarian tomorrow or the next day.

sorry I thought a gentle wipe not a rub with cool boiled water would help for now until vets

Never mess with eyes when you don’t know what the problem is- you can cause more damage than good trying to fix an unknown issue

The cotton fibers can stick in eyes. Its very painful to have inflammation in or around eyes . Touching the swollen tissue paper thin tissue can cause tearing.

But I understand the idea. If you saw debris in eye you might try to gently flush with water. But then you risk introducing infection.

Eyes should be considered a veterinarian must.

Baby Jack is a cute one! Sorry you found us under these circumstances.

I hope you will update us on him. We will be worried. And we all learn from each other's experiences.

Hopefully you will stick around for better times to. Great group of people here ! We love all things parrots.
