To the point, I burnt hot dogs in my pan and I am unsure if the pan has free of both PFOA, PTFE. They are rachel ray set, non stick orange colored one of her first models I think. I have the window open and the fan going but dear God, I cannot lose this guy. What else can I do? besides buying different pans......?! because that does nothing for what I just did.

Move them to a different room or outside, right away. Far as you can from the pan, and definately buy new ones.

I think the teflon starts to break down and release chemicals at 550 degrees F.

If the weather’s adequate you can take your bird outside until you think the house is aired out

I live on the cape in Massachusetts. its too cold for that. Its airing out, and he seems fine.... but, thats probably absolute luck.
And- I do apologize if asking for prayers offended anyone. I was in a panic.

Does anyone have suggestions on cookware?

Mine are simple old style SS... I don’t have non stick anything when it comes to cooking (I don’t need it cos I know how to cook lol)

@Mizzely might check your link and tell you if the ones in your link are safe- I’m not confident enough to say either way as I honestly just don’t trust any sort of non stick surface with my bird.

I too use stainless steel. For "non stick", try Green pan (I think they are ceramic) - safe and very good.

I havent bought new pans in years because I am terrified of buying the wrong ones.

Its confusing!

I have 3 stainless steel pots i use and trust. Thats it.

I also have a gas stove, so as soon as we are about to cook, ALL windows in the kitchen get opened.

I am very paranoid.

I hope your babies are ok

Thanks Shez. I'll check out the non non stick and see what I can find. What about the ninja foodi? That is supposed to be PFOA, PTFE free. Any of you guys use that?

Don’t know about the foodi but the ninja air fryers are safe even though they’re non stick.

I have the Ninja Foodi Grill 5 in 1 and 2 instant pots. Ninja air fryers and pressure cookers are safe.

As long as pans say they are PTFE and PFOA free they should be fine.

SS, glass, ceramic, and my personal favorite...good old cast iron (one of my skillets was my hillbilly grandmother’s, the others were from flea markets -they are easy to restore when they look horrific, so a good price)!
