So I just notice this white thing on my 10 month old cockatiels beak. It’s appeared within the last couple of hours out of no where. Please help me by telling me if you have any ideas on what this is because I’m really worried. Thank you 250881DB-E6D7-4B49-829E-3E21529CF7AF.jpeg 2BBF9B92-4B9B-4DF8-B39C-241880F3F501.jpeg CD662570-DFC1-4FEA-A9B2-097578841956.jpeg B76654C5-1A76-43B6-884A-09CC5122446E.jpeg 609C5A52-7D4E-4FC2-980B-28967EF9A812.jpeg

Could it be food?
Try offering a bath and see if it is still there afterwards.

The pics are not real clear for me but my first guess would also be food. What has he had access to today?

That really looks like a seed to me too . . . have you tried brushing it with a damp Q-tip? If it is, it'll probably pop right off when brushed from below.

(not-so-funny but related story: My conure had a small "hang-nail" on the side of her beak -- since fixed by the vet -- and one night it appeared like a crack had formed from it up through the top of her beak. Panic set in as Dr. Google gave it's prognosis, and we took some more pictures . . . and realized the crack was a sliver of a canary seed husk  Quick brush with a Q-tip and she was back from "life-threatening injury" to "Poor baby, that looks uncomfortable". Try to brush it off -- your nerves may thank you.)

Or a bean-- feeding any sprouts? Thought in one of the pics that the nostril looked crusty too, but not in the others...

If it wound up being food, don't worry. There's no judgement here. You should have seen me the first time I fed my birds beets. I thought Rupert was bleeding everywhere. Nope! Just beet juice. I earned some grey hairs that day.

Anything look like it in her seed mix? Looks too round to be safflower shell. Could be half a slice of a bean? I was worried too until food was mentioned.

Hope its nothing

Any update?

I think piece of food too. And yep I posted a similar question a few weeks into being a new cockatiel mom.
