I've been browsing various bird forums for years now to find misc. information but decided to stop being shy and finally join this one! I'm from Canada, and I have a Sun Conure, Aska, who just turned 7 this month! I'm 98% sure Aska is male based on behaviours and lack of egg laying, but we've never tested
Aska is quite feisty and LOVES doing everything with you ("helping" make coffee is his favourite thing right now) With Covid quarantine I've been home pretty much all the time and Aska has become quite co-dependent of me, so I've been working to ease out of that. We've also been working hard on training (which, to be honest, I hadn't really tried much with even though I've had him 7 years. He is potty trained however, and he knows when I point to the cage or somewhere else to go there).
He also knows a few words, though being a Sun they come out pretty gurgled. He says "Goodnight" and "Thank you" (after getting special treats) and my sister somehow taught him "What the ****" when he was a baby, which he has never given up. Seriously whenever he's introduced to something or someone new, he just repeats that phrase over and over hahaha
Anyways, I'm excited to have somewhere to talk birds with people since my family is getting tired of hearing it lol! I might also ask questions, I love being able to learn more about birds and bird care and I want to do all that I can to give my little feather-baby a long and happy life
