Hello Everyone!!
I've been reading this forum from a couple of weeks now and have read so much helpful information. It's to the point that come here from answers before Googling it. This is a wonderful forum and I am happy to be a part of it.
I do not have any birds nor have I ever. I thought all birds were nothing loud, messy, human hating grouches who resented us for putting them in cages. I though all bird owner where sadistic people who did care about their animals happiness or wellbeing. My very limited experience with birds and proper bird care created a strong negative bias. Until I watched a youtube video of a parakeet name Disco. I couldn't stop watching bird videos and I learned some things that started to change my mind. Then I met a Green Cheek Conure. That little bird stole me heart. So full of personality!! That tiny creature has more emotions than I do! He has a good home and I still get to see him every now and then. He remembers me every time and it's like we are still best buddies. Since discovering I was wrong about birds and their people I have been reading as much as I can about proper bird ownership and different species.
I have come to the conclusion that an English Budgie is the first bird I would like to own. If that goes well and I love being a bird mom as much as I think I will, then in a couple years I will get a small parrot. The problem is I am having a very hard time finding a breeder. I live in Alabama and will not travel more than a state away. Does anyone know of any resources to help me find a English Budgie breeder near me? I have tried pet search engines like BirdBreeder.com with no luck. What about Southeast Exoctic Bird Show in Pensecola? Is that a good place to buy a baby bird?
