This started two days ago and is progressing fast. Any thoughts as to what it could be? Is it Bronzing? Have had bird its entire life - since 1986. Never had health issues.

It looks like some kind of staining to me. Any signs of nasal discharge? How often does the bird bathe?

A change in feather color to darker (particularly in Amazons) is an indication of liver issues. Never seen darkening in one spot. Have you or someone else been petting him a lot?

I'm wondering also if this is from him sticking his head in/on something dirty.

It looks like he is a soup maker, might he have dunked his head?

bathing at least twice a week. Soup is changed daily

nothing in behavior has changed except a huge molt. Still seems happy. No nasal discharge
