Good day all,

I would like to hear from those who own hawk-headed parrots or has experience with them.

I am busy doing research on hawk-headed parrots, and the one thing I haven't been able to find an answer on is whether there is a difference between the male and female as pets.

Some people say that the males are more difficult to manage, but others say that there can be medical issues with the females and egg laying as well as aggression when protecting eggs (as with many female parrots in whichever specie).

Any opinions.....?

No experience with a male HH but heard they can be more difficult. I know who has Penny's brother & he's a good bird to his person & she has stopped by here a few times...His name is Hawkeye...

I think Penny had only one egg in 18 years but she may have chewed into her belly to get at it...That's pretty odd...

They also tried to get a mate for Penny but he abused her so they did not keep him...

Alot of it depends on how the bird is brought up...
