Has anyone tried Hagen Tropimix?

I usually use Higgens Safflower Gold as a base and add Tops pellets, Zupreem fruit pellets, Kaytee Papaya and a bit of Bird Bistro at the side (yes quite a mix) I got this new one (to me anyway) as a base as I thought it might be healthier than the Hggens. Hard to tell if Pica likes it, though she has been tossing more seed on the floor than usual today. Any thought on this brand/blend?

I have used that for the large parrot over the years. Kazoo was weaned onto the Hagan sticks. It's basically their pellets known as granules for smaller hookbills with added fruits or nuts. The large parrot are the sticks they call them added fruit, nuts but sparingly. I have found two things. Priced high and hard to get unless you are a brick and mortar store. It is good, but sticking to a good pellet, adding in your own few nuts and fruits you can accomplish the same thing or close to.

I will say that I am not a fan of any colored pellets. Higgins uses beet juice and other natural colorings. Higgins Intune harmony has that little bit of mix added to the smaller pellets. If your bird eats Tops, the closest pellet that has been around a very long long time is Roudybush another pick of mine.

Do you use fresh vegetables and fruits making chop?

Yes she gets fresh fruit, as far as veggies the only one I can get her to eat is carrots. My last bird would not touch anything but apples...so this is progress:)

I have tried it but haven't had much luck with it...or any seed/pellet mix, honestly, so my results are likely skewed. They always eat their favorites and leave the rest as waste. But, I like Hagen and if they weren't so picky I wouldn't have an issue feeding it!

I caved tonight and bought a bag of Safflower Gold. Once the Tops is done (which she doesn't love either) I will keep to the Safflower as a base and add the Hagen, Zupreem and fruit pieces.

I actually got it at a very low price on Amazon. I am mixing it with the remainder of Tops - that one I won't buy again, the reaction was less than enthusiastic lol

Bebe gets Hagens Tropimix in his bento boxes. I use it to soak up the juices as it thaws out. Once thawed out I mix the entire box together and if he eats it, most likely I wouldn’t know.
