Has anyone ever harness trained their linnie? Also, if you have, what harness did you use?

It is something I am thi king of but I always worry about safety. Also, being a bit of a chewer, could he get out of it?

Thank you!

Ali

I have no experience or desire to put Gigi in a harness. I would be terrified to take her outside. I check her travel cage zipper over and over when I take her to the vet lol. But I'd love to live vicariously through you. Do it and report back! Pictures needed.

I am really worried about safety, so I would need to do it indoors lots just for a couple of minutes.

It is only an idea, hence why I ask. I wouldn't want anything to happen to him.

What travel cage do you have?

Here is Gigi's travel cage. I really like it. It's sturdy, but light. Gigi steps into it easily.

Here´s a helpful video;

Here is the aviator vid, some stuff is brand specific, but there´s good tips included too;

Remember, not to force it :)

He was the odd one out for a long time. The others were pairs. So I introduced the harness and took him out. I don´t want to take him out and leave his girlfriend here (and I tried the harness with her as a young bird and she was not having any of it!)

Does he have the aviator? I've tried the Avian Web, but it's difficult to close it securely.

Talking about the Aviator, I don't think a Linnie would be able to chew it enough to break it in one go and I don't think a bird can get out of it without a lot of struggle if properly fitted.

I am very keen on harness training Astro. I don't have worries about her freaking out outside because she spends a lot of time outdoors in her cage on my terrace in the middle of Istanbul with tons of birds flying over her head many times a day, and she is very nicely recall trained and desensetised. These two things are important before taking a bird outdoors I think.
