Troy might have to give up his pillow! Hehe..
----------------------------------------------------

LOL...but I don't think Gryphon will mind sharing a pillow with his favorite human :)

If Troy will agree to one last addition{for the benefit of Gryphon, honey!..how's that sound?:D} do you think he would get along with a boy mouser? I am not so sure I want to have him stressed with having to keep a family for the rest of his days. I like that he likes me too...wouldn't want to be upstaged by a pretty lady mouser.:twirl: It would be neat if I had a big nest and the creepers and him would snuggle up at night like in the Kiki book.

LOL!...if Gryphon shares your pillow, Troy may be more agreeable to let you have another mousers as a companion.

Gryphon would probably enjoy a young mouser. He would be a good teacher, showing the little one what is good to nibble one.

What does he think of the honeycreepers?

Carole, what about a rice buddy to keep him warm?

a rice buddy is like a beanbag made with uncooked rice - make it whatever size you need (i usually use part of a clean old sock) and heat in the microwave - it doesn't take long and you can gauge the temp when it comes out. they hold heat for up to a few hours depending on size.

Hmm..well..I want something to keep him warm all night. It seems like that would go cold about the time the room got cold. But thank you for the idea. It would sure do in a pinch. I have ordered the little pet heating pad. I will hang it on the back of the cage and move his birdy buddy there. That should keep him very warm.:)

Yeh!...just in time to be an X-mas snuggle friend for the little guy! He will watch you like a hawk as you put it up, and then go and investigate. That little crest will go up and down...cute :)

This is working out real well. He is snug as a bug, right up underneath it.:cloud9: It is meant to stay warm, not get hot, so I think it's just right. I'll take a pic how I am using it tomorrow.

You can hold your camera with the lens pressed up to the cage bars and get a shot of him napping :) He must be a happy mouser with his new snuggle place :)

Thanks GG, Susanne, and Missi. I just have it flat on top, with the 'up' side facing downward.;)

Carole, you might want to have a branch across the cage below where Gryphons new heat source is at for him to hang from. The bachlor mousers have a branch they hang from below the sunlight at the top of the cage.

Yes...the first though in my mind is that Cochise snacked on him :(

I have been itching to make model mousebirds...life sized. Maybe I'll give it a try. Do you think one off those fish tank heaters can be inserted in a model mousbird so that it can be turned on at night for warmth?

Not that I'm tempting you...LOL. But look at this swet pix. This was Double Stuff, a WB as a baby... This was from the breeder, when I first started looking for mousebirds. And look how big they are at about 2 weeks old.
That photo was just precious!
