I will try to read the article a little later- I don’t think I can deal with the sadness at the moment.
It is horrible to see that birds in the wild grieve.... they will even often sit by the body of their partner and let predators (cars or me in the case I’m describing) approach- this is how so many bonded pairs end up as road tragedies here, if I can stop and move the dead bird off the road for its mate to sit by and grieve over in safety I do but I’ve seen it so many times where the grieving bird just sits there without a care as the next car comes at it- even if you slow down and beep your horn like crazy they sometimes still stay put keeping vigil over their lost mate.

Kind of leaves us feeling helpless. Our parrots can go through grief for their loss as only they can. Never really thought of it this way.

It's very emotional. Just the way Secret reacted to his toys when I moved one over.

Nerd and I grieved for his brother together and bonded. He was my best friend for 31 years and had no problem being the only bird in the flock. He died sitting on my arm looking up at me with his eyes closed looking through the lids.
It tore me up but it was the best way for him to go :sad13:
That was a beautiful story, thank you.
