oh dear, number two pineapple purchased this week - 3 years old, supposedly male (but non dna'd) - last owner had him 2 years with no egg laying, so assumed male - very experienced previous owner - albeit with macaws, amazons and africans (hence moving on the little bird). Bowie, my bird of a year (15 months old) is puberty humping my arm at the moment - Bowie HUMPS and groans - this little boy - 2nd day in - lifted his tail and gently rubbed his backside against my hand whilst squeaking and wing beating - it's very different and it's continuing (I am obviously ignoring / trying to distract behaviour from both off them). I think DNA test is in order, pdq. Their main cages are in the same room, about 6 feet apart and there's been a bit of posturing at each other as one is out and the other in is (and I am in the room) but just 5 days in they have started calling to each other first thing in the morning - Bowie sleeps in a small cage in my bedroom - I am hoping to wean him off this eventually now there is a same-species companion! He was just referred to as "Little Bird" in his previous home but is now called "Bolan".
Pictured after their baths yesterday left Bowie, right Bolan
