Grapefruit Seed Extract As An Anti-Bacterial?

hi there, was just wondering if grapefruit seed extract is safe for birds and how exactly i would administer it? would i put it in my birds water? if so, how much?

This is a heads up for those of us who use GSE.... | Avian Avenue Parrot Forum

A lot of these additives can make them drink less or even aspirate because of the taste, deplete levels of good bacteria or cause other issues.
When it comes to adding things to water, it's best to not unless directed to by an experienced vet.
If you're worried about bacteria growth, lixit bottles and birdy butlers are worth taking a look into, but they come with their own pros/cons as well.
