So I bought my Java Rice finch a new cage, using the old one to quarantine her new boyfriend. The new cage doesn't have the metal bars that pull out from the bottom, the bars on the bottom separating the tray from cage are permanent which presents a safety issue. How should I clean that bottom when it gets icky? As I can't remove it and I worry about the door being open with her, and soon him, being so flighty.

I cover my grates with paper as I really do not like having to scrub between all the bars everyday and the paper is just so easy to remove- As my budgie does not destroy the paper on the bottom of the cage I simply add a handful of sheets to make daily cleaning easier, all I have to do for the week then is open door replace food and water and roll up dirty paper and remove and the cage is fresh again.
