Hi all,
You may have noticed I have been a bit quieter on here recently. I've been going through a fair amount with the flock and have been super stressed out and emotional. For those that don't know, Crikey has an incurable lower abdominal mass - she's comfortable at the moment and still chipper all things considered, still is able to fly as well but it has been a worry not knowing when the inevitable decline will happen. Then on Sunday, Custard was a bit quieter than normal with runny poos, she sometimes goes overboard eating her greens so I put it down to that, usually she's better after 24 hours or so once it's passed through. On Monday she wasn't really eating much except for her green and had diarrhoea, didn't want to be around anyone really, struggling to settle. Tuesday she had perked up a little bit in herself, but still had bad diarrhoea and wasn't eating much (very unlike her) so I called the vets, weighed her and started doing everything I could (weight checks, had a feel of her tummy and bum which she hated, offering kale, recovery and mash which she had some of). The vet could only see us Thursday so Wednesday, checked her over again, she was a bit brighter I think the reocvery/mash/kale helped but still diahorrea and not eating as much as normal. Thursday she was brighter again, still not eating a lot but her weight had remained stable, still diarrhoea. Nothing obvious was found on the clinical exam except from her breathing being faster than it should be, airsac sounded clear, I had collected 3 days worth of poo samples, nothing obvious under the microscope so it's been sent off for a full panel (minus chlamydia as she's not showing clinical signs of that). Started her on some antibiotics while we wait for the test results. The meds are flavoured to be favoured by dogs and is gritty so she absolutely hates it but has been very good so far taking it (I know it's early days). Today her poos are looking better, not quite yet normal but significantly better and she's much brighter with more energy, eating a bit more.
With Crikey, she's getting older and I've had enough budgies to accept that she might not have long left, with Custard she's young and I cannot fathom losing her at a young age.
I'm much more calm today now she's brighter and her poos are looking better but I've shed many tears along the way.

I'm so sorry about Crikey. That sounds really hard.
Hopefully Custard gets back to completely normal asap and they find out whats wrong with her. It sounds like you did all the right things.
