Hello,
We are excited about this baby Fischer's lovebird we see at our local mom & pop pet store. He is a DNA sexed male and 7 weeks old. He is in a glass enclosure with another & they huddle together in their enclosure. I do not want 2 because I want the Fischer's lovebird to bond to me. I have spent hours and hours reading and comparing many breeds & other than a Budgie the Love bird is the best choice for us based on our lifestyle and desires. I cannot find a budgie that is super tame like the one we had for years so, I feel the Fischer's lovebird is the best choice for us.

Since I have never owned a lovebird, We have 2 concerns & hope you all here can put my mind at ease.

First, is noise. We live in a home in a large community & would hope his volume level would not be so loud that the neighbors could hear him? Our budgie could get loud BUT he was not loud all day and it was very manageable<< I do not think this will be an issue? but advice is appreciated.
second, I am experienced with birds & not too afraid of biting BUT my wife, well 1 good bite & she will be scared. I dont think this is going to be a issue as all birds nip/bite BUT if the lovebird can draw blood? and he bites her well, :unsure1:

Lastly, just so you know, he will have a large cage with 1/2 in bar spacing His home measures >>> 26"L x 14"W x 22.25"H with plenty of toys & food and love and care. Our daily routine is up at 8:15 & the Fischer's lovebird will have his door open at 8:15 or so and be out all day with us & will have a play gym & he will get handled a lot during the day EVERYDAY. if we have to go to the store or errands I hope he wouldn't scream when we go out? and evenings he will be out until sunset then put in his home. I have a night light for sleep time & a cover to cover him 3/4 of his home. We will be getting a lot of good food for him to eat & get him on Roudybush pellets and very little seed or fatty foods.

IF my intuition is correct???? The Fischer's lovebird should be an excellent choice for us??

any advice is appreciated................. Thank You & we are excited to be a part of the group.

I will tag Zara who is one of our lovebird people. I personally am very hesitant to separate bonded pairs if these 2 lovebirds are actually bonded to each other. .... I think lovebirds are great little birds and I don't find them overly loud at all. But yes, a lovebird can draw blood.

The manager at the pet store that we know very well told us that They're not bonded they're only about 5 weeks old and they've only been together I think about two or three at the pet store

I also forgot to mention if we go anywhere like to the grocery store or to visit friends or something we would d put the lovebird back in his house we wouldn't leave him out by himself
so when we leave he would be in his house with the doors locked so he couldn't get out.

Never had a lovebird, but greatly admire them from afar, especially Fischer’s! Looking forward to updates. :)

If lovebirds are not bonded (and just in a baby huddle) they can do all right alone if they get a lot of attention, which it sounds like you will be giving. Just don’t bring your baby home too young (before being weaned).

Lovebirds definitely can bite, especially females (though yours would be a boy, so usually less bitey). From what I’ve read and experienced, peach-faced lovebirds are the most friendly, so you may have to work harder to befriend your little bird.

Their voices can be piercing, but I wouldn’t say they’re particularly loud. I lived in apartments with 6-7 (peach-faced) lovebirds for years and never had an issue.
