Dr. Dixon has Java on 2 week's worth of Metacam and 2 week's worth of smz/tmp liquid orally but here's the issue: he'll take the Metacam without a problem, that's once a day. He has to take smz/tmp twice a day, which is where we hit our first bump. He refuses to take it, and has gotten good at yanking the syringe out of my hand and throwing it. He'll also shake his head and spit it out once it's in his mouth.
I was told not to put the Metacam on anything, and just give it straight, but I'm wondering if I can put the antibiotics in a treat. I've toweled him with little success and a few bites. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't frustrated, and very much getting burnt out from the lack of sleep and running around.
There has to be an easier way to give him his meds without ending up with it all over my shirt.
