Getting rid of hair algae

I’m currently battling beard algae. We covered the tank with black plastic for 5 days (yeah we’re desperate). Yesterday we removed all the wood and it’s out drying in the sun. Looks like I can peel the algae off but there is SO MUCH of it. I wish the birds could eat it off! Otto-caique-cinclus!

With peroxide, yours worked well but just FYI in case others are reading. It helps to dip it in a pipette and squirt it directly on the algae. I didn’t do this because of the sheer amount, and some pretty sensitive fish.

Hello,

Has anyone here successfully gotten rid of hair algae? I have it in my planted tank and it' driving my mad.
I adopted a couple of siamese algae eater, they destroy every hair algae in a short time, clean to the roots!

For smaller tanks I haven't had any problems, probably because I cramped it with a lot of fast growing nutrient greedy plants :)

That's one of the best ways - let the plants out-compete the algae.
