Hello!

I was wondering if it would be possible to add the gender as part of the mini profile that appears beside each post. This is because some usernames (mine included) confuse other members. This would work better than having to view the profile of the member to find there gender.

Obviously this would only be for people that have their gender showing under preferences.

Would this be possible to do?

The Unicode symbol is: U+2642
But I believe it is also in Character map

No, there is a part in your account settings to put your name. Yours will be blank right now. You could put it in there... or put your full name (Alistair)

Maybe the area surrounding the profile pic could be blue for a male and pink for a female.

Then what about our androgynous members who identify as neither? Or members who do not want to disclose their gender.

Blue for everyone is good. We have the name box if we want to put our names.

Ok.. so on your account settings there is a selection for gender. If you set your gender and save it, it will be visible on your ¨about me¨ page on your profile for others to see. So people can go and find out if they want to know.
I just tried it and it seems to be saying female there now

Here you can see your account settings;

If you fill in the ¨real name¨ box, it becomes visible on the left under your info in threads.

Here you can see it now says female on my ¨about me¨ page;
