My sun conures have finally given me a clutch of chicks. Adam and Sunny started laying their second clutch together in mid-September. The first 3 eggs were laid 3 days apart, with the last one laid 4 days later. Her very first clutch was clear, but it was her very first mating, so I had low hopes. They waited a few months and bred again. This time they had success. The larger chick on the right hatched Sunday morning. The little one hatched today, between 9:30 when I fed them, and 12:30 when I checked in. The egg right under it looks like it has a pip mark on it, so I might get lucky and have two that hatch today. For a first time parent, she's keeping them well fed.

I'm happy with them. Adam and Evil had several clutches, but no live chicks. There were some eggs that were fertile, but died in the shell. Evil died suddenly in March. Might have been egg binding, maybe her evil caught up to her. In any case, she was unpleasant, even for a breeder. They were a proven pair before, but had no luck with us. Sunny is 5 and had never been with a male before. This is her very first clutch of live chicks. It looks like her instincts have kicked in, or Adam is helping her feed them. I'm just glad we've had this much progress.

:laughing12: Good news, not that I'm a breeder.

The other two eggs were clear, but I'll take what I can get. Both chicks are well fed and growing fast.

This is the first one that hatched - it will be 3 weeks old on Sunday. I pulled them both on Wednesday. I also have a cockatiel chick that a friend asked me to hand feed for a week while she goes through a schedule chance at work. The three of them are always huddled together, either sleeping, or wanting to be fed. I certainly hope this little one grows into those massive feet!

Feeding time this evening - the one showing the feet is the younger one. I could have sworn it didn't have pin feathers yesterday. It will be 3 weeks on Tuesday. The one sitting fully in my hand is the older one, pictured above with the monster feet sticking out. Already showing color on the head - will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. Our last conure chick went home in August and I realize how much I've missed having them to hand feed.

23 and 25 days old now. There is a big difference in size still, but I'm hoping they will be close in size as they wean. I can't really tell on the younger one, but the bigger one looks like it's going to have quite a bit of red on top of the head.
