Flying and landing!!!!

Secret did it! Off the small perch and landed in the couch, on her feet, a whopping .....maybe....3 feet?

She was stunned.

I was shocked.

AND she didn't poo when she landed on our leather couch.

For those that don't know, we had her wings clipped when we first got her. We quit that after realizing she didn't fly (and wouldn't be trying to eat us alive when she was out of her cage).

I don't think she flew on purpose but it was just really cool to see this.

My Amazon has moved from just flying, to playing "keep away from the human" and/or "buzz the human" or "buzz the table where the Human is working and send everything flying".

I'm glad I let the feathers grow out, it's the right thing to do, but getting a bit less glad as she finds the flighted has a distinct advantage over the walking.

So be careful what you wish for.

Woo hoo Secret! Do you think you would set up another perch or platform for her to encourage short flights? The no poo is a delightful bonus. If you looked at Henry's papers without seeing him you'd think a macaw lived in his cage.

The flight was an accident, I think.

Lately the vicious side has been directed towards the baby blanket that I put on my lap to protect my body and clothes. Remember, I keep the T stick next to my body too. Secret will step onto the stick and I gently move her back to my knees. Sometimes she slams her beak into the blanket like "take that".... usually following hubby touching her tail or messing with the blanket.

Goofy bird really really likes him and the both of them do their best to ignore each other while I'm watching. Just like kids.....
