I had a pair of red-headed gouldian finches but lost the female in Dec. Does anyone know if gouldians are more likely to pair up if they are the same color? Do I need to get a red-headed hen again or can I get any color gouldian for a mate?

I was just watching a nature program about finches and one of the things I learned that I didn't know is that you need to pair Gouldian Finches with like head colors....black with black, red with red and gold with gold. If allowed to choose their own mates, that's how they do it.
