I have the old chime a matic Hitachi...small & large. I use the small. It has an aluminum pot.
No stirring or watching.
Made rice on the cooktop in AU but you have to tend to it quite alot in the beginning the way I make it before you can shut the lid & turn it down low to steam. Pots with poor fitting lids or thin bottoms or weird conductivity can give you problems cooking rice along with different stove tops. Moms was electric/glass.
I have made rice in pots for myself int he past for many years & it works but a good rice cooker takes alot of work out of it.
