What's everyone's favorite parrot species? This is factoring out space, time, or money issues, and if we were in a perfect world. It can be a favorite for any reason. I'm just curious to see what everyone likes. I love all parrots, and there's none I'd hate.

If I had to create a top 5 list, it would be:

1. Galahs, Cockatiels, and Green-cheek Conures (I can't pick one, so three-way tie.)
2. Budgies (Underrated birds. I wish they had longer lifespans like the larger birds, and if they did, they would've taken first place. 50 years with a budgie please. xD)
3. Lovebirds (My boyfriend's lovebird charmed me.)
4. Macaws (I want to learn and spend time training and free-flying them. Marvelous birds. I spent time with a B&G and a GW at a place I used to go to.)
5. Kea (Parrots that don't belong in captivity, but I'd like to observe and research in the wild. Their intelligence is amazing, and they rival New Caledonian crows for tool use in birds.)

I love all birds! But budgies have such huge personalities, considering their size. Cockatiels and conures are just such smart and affectionate creatures. So I voted for budgies, cockatiels and Pyrrhura conures.

Part of me falls in love with every species I get to work with honestly. (I volunteer with a rescue.) I have never met a bird I didn't like. Cockatiels will always be a favorite though. So sweet and gentle. And goffins are just amazingly smart and funny but not for everyone. I have never met a galah but definitely admire them. And probably one of the biggest surprises to me was how much I like canary-winged parakeets. Great little birds that people don't talk about a lot.

You know I have to say Linnie! Gigi is looking right at me! But seriously Linnies are a wonderful combo of sweet and sass, not too noisy, playful, resilient, smart and friendly. And just so pretty. The perfect choice for me.

I voted for my dream birds and also some that I've learnt about and love their traits!

- African Greys
- Budgies
- Caiques
- Linnies
- Pyrrhura
- Eclectus (they just look so majestic and unreal to me!)
- Pionus

I'm starting to appreciate the beauty of macaws too. Such a sight when they free fly.

I started voting and then realized I almost checked them all! If I had to narrow it down, cockatiels still come out as number one. In a world without any constraints cockatoos come in second followed by Greys.
