Does anyone have experience with budgie eye removal?
I may have to choose between an eye removal (likely expensive and with uncertain outcome) and euthanasia. My bird was attacked by another parakeet and has other injuries including having a portion of scalp ripped off and lacerations.
Has anyone had a positive outcome from this type of surgery? I dont want to put my bird through unnecessary pain and stress.

Oh that is awful. I just wanted to say I'm so sorry, but I have no experience with injuries. That poor bird.

Sometimes when parakeets are in a flock one of the birds gets picked on. I am very sorry this happened to one of your birds. If it were me I would not choose the eye surgery because of the risk of both the surgery and anesthesia. It is a very difficult decision for you and I have not heard of eye surgery for a budgie.

So sorry that your budgie got injured. I think that surgery would be risky but you have to go with your gut. You may want to get a 2nd opinion from another vet and/or discuss the risks again with the current vet. Keep us updated.
