I am super paranoid with windows so our sliding glass door has decals on it so Squeeky knows it is a window. Squeeky is pretty smart but they get spooked they don't think lol. Glad your faby was ok :)

Oh wow.... I never thought about the glass. I need to get sheer curtains to cover them. As of now it isn't a problem because Marley doesn't like to be out of her cage.... but eventually it will. Thanks SO MUCH for the warning and glad JP is fine!!! :)

oh my gosh, i know just how you feel. i had 3 scares in a very short period of time with duckie last month (2 were glass, one was her smacking herself on her cage).

2 of those times, i thought she would die for sure. she was rolling her head around in a wierd way, eyes half closed, shaking. ugh, it was horrible. you cannot be too careful. i did end up taking her to the vet, just for my own peace of mind, but nothing was wrong,

i see so many photos here of parrots, with windows totally exposed in the background. i wish i could teach duckie that a window is a window, but when she gets scared, she forgets i guess.

i'm so glad your little one is okay. :hug8:

Yes, he is still doing just fine. Just everyone be careful with your birds because had I lost him after 12 yrs of keeping him safe and well cared for would have killed me if he died because of this stupid mistake of not covering the glass on the door.

Its definitely scary when that happens. That happened with Jessie once and he was a little out of sorts for a few hours. But he was fine a few hours later.

I'm glad he is ok.

When I was allowing my tiels to breed, one of my pairs produced a wonderful golden pearl grey and I was so very happy. When she was nine weeks old, she flew full speed into the window which was completely covered by a sheer curtain and another sheer decorative curtain and gave herself a brain injury. She never recovered and I had to have her euthanized. Do not rely on sheers. Later on, I had heavier brocade curtains on the same window and when a baby did the same as Pearl, the baby was not injured. Sheers just do not have enough stopping power if the bird is flying fast.
