I have to padlock Porter's cage door.
We had an incident like this where I couldn't find him as he had made another 'great escape' basically he knows how to open his cage door if I don't lock it.
I found him alright, behind the lizard tank below the table strung up in the blind cord hanging by one wing and a loop under his chest.
He was fine when I rescued him though a trip to the vet made sure nothing was broken.
That was darned scary.

HOLY COW! That is scary. That cord could have... never mind.

Glad you could get him to the vet, and that nothing was broken.

I moved Ernie to his cage, mostly to try to get him to eat. It took 5 tries but he managed to balance on the hurt foot to hold a nutriberry with the other one. so he ate 2 nutriberries.

Then I moved the bowls to the floor and lowered all the perches, so he climbed up and is perched on the food holder thing. That has GOT to be uncomfortable.

I also put the heat above a box which has the whole front side cut out. I filled it with paper shreds and stuck him in it. He hated it.

Such an uncooperative patient!

It just shows we have to be super careful and check on them multiple times a day!

Oh no! Poor Ernie! That must have been so scary, for him and for you. I remember when Mara got her foot tangled in a net, it's just horrible.

I'm so glad that he ate, and that he's putting some weight on his foot.

When Nerd was sick I always gave him something forbidden that he loved with sugar in it to give him a jump start and get his strength back. The vet didn't care at that point because anything that would perk him up and get him moving forward was a good idea as long as it wouldn't kill him.
I found Lurch in the luckily empty washer tub one night when he didn't fly much yet so we figured he was sleeping and would be fine for a short trip out to shop.
He must have startled sometime while we were out or when we came home. He wasn't completely worn out yet but couldn't open his wings or climb out and luckily was fine.

Update: That little rascal.

This morning he was still standing on his food holder. I moved the rope perch up beside it (and the food and water). He walked on it just fine, using both feet equally, drank a bunch of water and ate his breakfast. Threatened to bite anyone who reached in his cage. All back to normal.

I guess all's well that ends well.

He truly hates change of any kind! "Do not move my perches, hooman!!"

Glad he's doing fine again. They are very cage aggressive usually and MAY let their chosen one inside, Nerd begrudgingly did for me only. Dobby LOVES to sit and sleep on a extra cup holder wire by his door. I took it out because he liked to sit there and crap into it all night while he snoozed on it. He has a water bottle now he uses and a food bowl he doesn't park over.
Got tired of constantly having to dump the primordial soup his water always quickly became and it should be healthier for his as he use the bottle fine and gets extra drinks to play in while he's out for the day.
