Hello,

We cannot find my indian ringneck anywhere. She has a large cage in our spare bedroom, and we let her out to explore, as we do frequently. She has never disappeared before. We turned the house upside down and cannot find her. I've looked in other rooms as well. We've tried playing bird noises. She is normally quite load and would never go this length of time without hearing from her. There are no open doors or windows she could have gotten outside from .

Do you have any other pets in the household that have access to the bird or open windows/doors? Could she have flown up a fireplace, vent, or chewed a hole somewhere such as behind a dresser or cabinet? Are there any cords that she could have gotten tangled up in?
Here's an article for if you suspect that the bird has left the house: What To Do If Your Bird Is Lost

Any small tears in window screens? My green cheek flew out a very small hole I was sure she couldn't fit through. Make sure you are looking in places that might seem impossible. Inside the fabric of a chair or box spring, for example

Check behindand under every bit of furniture.
Check under trash in your rubbish bins.. yes, the rubbish bin- we had a member here (can’t for the life of me recall who) who’s bird ended up falling in their bin.
Check inside every drawer, fridge, cupboard and basically anything with an opening.
Check your curtains well.
Do you have any air/ heating vents or exhaust fans in that room?

Also look under kitchen appliances like stove and frig. Any chance bir could have been in closets or cabinets. If she is hormonal now she may be looking to build a nest some place dark

Check under the bed, some beds have material under the box spring that tears.
Check for tiny holes (like near waterheaters) in the drywall.
Check in toilets. :(
Check in any boxes in cupboards and closets.
Check low hanging clothes in the bedroom closet, she may have climbed one.
Check curtains and rods.
Birds are quiet when frightened.

I hope she´s still home and you find her. Be sure to double check all nooks and cranies.

Don´t open any windows until you find her. Be very careful going in and out of doors.

Try flock calling, or play some of her own kinds flock calls on a video.

Fingers crossed :fingerscrossed:

Aww, I am so sorry! Is she hormonal? If so, than I recommend searching in dark smaller secure places like maybe a book shelf, or maybe an open cabinet. I hope she’ll turn up! :(

Hello!

Thank you all for your advice! We found her!!!! I had stopped searching and went into another room to write my original post. 15 minutes later, I went back into her room and she was back in her cage swinging on her swing. We still have no idea where she was hiding or why she didn't make any sound. What a relief!
