I forgot to post yesterday, but yesterday was Elvis' 5th gotcha day! He was the first to celebrate 4 years with me, and he's the first to celebrate 5 years with me.
Back in 2016, a couple weeks after Clicky passed, my parents got me a cockatiel for my birthday. I had wanted one for a while, and since I didn't have my budgie anymore they decided that I could finally have one. Since my birthday fell on a weekday they took me out to get him on Sunday, which happened to be valentine's day that year. We went to a small pet store, they had a couple of them. Elvis was the little, entirely grey baby with no tail sitting in the bottom cage singing his little heart out. I wanted the pied cockatiel, but Elvis was entertaining to watch and listen to. I got him, called him Elvis, a little while later his tail starts growing back in as a solid black color and I know without a doubt that he is male. When I got him I thought I'd have about 2 years with him (Clicky died at 3 1/2 years, so I guessed) I never thought I'd have him this long.
Here's to another 5 years.
Now, if you excuse me, that little feathered demon woke me up on my day off of class, so now I must go spoil him with lots of treats and scritches, and maybe new toy. And I guess the budgies can have some too, if they want some treats or scritches.
