Has anyone ever used any of these devices (some samples shown in the Image) to teach a bird to talk? If so, how were the results for you? I'm wondering if they work?

Supposedly, they play a phrase in a loop. Most of the ones I found are listed as "bird toys." They have multiple built in recordings like 3 or 4 words and some offer the ability to record your own voice for playback.

There are also youtube videos of various lengths that purport to do the same thing, and have wondered (though in those of course you have to find one that says the words or whistles you happen to want).

Personally I don't feel it's the way to go if you intend to teach a bird to talk. They learn from you, interaction. Not a stale loop of words. Of course, they may start to mimic but they will just be mimicking. If you teach them normally they may understand the context and can actually use their words. I don't feel it's fun for a bird to sit and listen to a repeat of phrases, I wouldnt like that and in turn would not subject my birds to it.
I feel you would be much better off rewarding sounds and then gradually the starting of talking and eventually words if you want to actively teach a bird to talk.

No I haven’t as I don’t like these “toys” at all, I can’t imagine how awful it would be for my bird to hear my voice repeat the same thing over and over all day with no context and no me there to make sense as to why my voice is heard.
Your birds may pick up words and phrases by hearing them from you- they won’t repeat everything they hear though and just by hearing the same thing over and over does not mean that they’ll repeat it.
My birds hear “good morning” and “good night, sweet dreams” numerous times each day yet none of them say it- Burt hears “no don’t do that” or “leave it” a few times a week and says it a lot, Birdie hears “argh look out” maybe once a week and he says that now but doesn’t say many other things I say to him every day.
I think it’s much nicer for your birds to learn to copy you while you interact with them.

Context and our energy output I think are a big part of what our birds learn to mimic.
