My blue and gold bit a wire to a lamp last night It popped , flash of light and a burning smell. I am thankful he is fine . I will tell vet today. I thought something like this will kill a parrot. Has anyone had experience with this ?

My Goffin bit thru a wire on a hanging light shortly after we got him.
All went dark, he fell to the floor.
He was fine and is still with me 35 years later.
He has never tried that stunt again.

The inside of a parrots mouth is mostly dry. This is why they don’t get electrocuted. If their mouth was wet like ours it would kill them in a flash as soon as they bit into the cord.

There are tubes you can buy in a hardware store to cover your cords with if you need to go that route. I used to do this because my cat chewed just about every cord visible. I hope the vet finds no aftereffects.
