I just went outside onto the patio to fill the doves food and I saw something weird on the floor, upon inspection. Is is an egg... I see no mess, chick or rest of egg, so did a bird bring this here? How weird...
This feather was near it, similar to my guys flights but not the same.

looks like it could be a dovie egg. If some of your doves had a nest nearby they might have figured they'd bring you a present, in exchange for their food. :D Doves generally try to get rid of the eggshells so as to keep their nest clean and hygienic and I've heard they tend to bring the shells farther away from the nest to make it harder for predators to find the nest. My doves used to fly the shells far away from their nests when babies hatched.

Thanks! That is very helpful :)
I wonder where the nest is..... I don´t believe there´s one in the palm trees in front so maybe farther up the street..

Last night, a few minutes before the applause at 8pm the street was pretty silent and I am soo sure I heard a dove chick calling. It was exactly the noise Pepper used to make here on my balcony when his parents would come.. I hope the little one is ok! I have food out always so at least they can feed him :)

You are a seer... or imagining things
I have had this eggshell in this thread... and Pepper.. and the chicken chick... and the quaker... Any other mention of eggs from me would have been my lovies eggs :)

My boyfriend thinks it is to remind us to keep the food dish replenished.

This just happened over the last hour while I have been sat here reading. I had noticed the doves weren´t coming as often. I also noticed some alien flourescent green poop, which I kept an eye on and seemed to be ok, the day before yesterday (I pause here because, OMG she´s back! And she brought another!!!! I heard it drop on my balcony, and I saw her, but she she flapped down to eat, it blew off the edge of my balcony to the street!!). This confirms, they are bringing me the eggshells on purpose.
Back to the poop, she had a diarrhoea explosion two days ago. But seems OK since.

1 sec. I´ll upda

I see the egg number 1,

I take it to show my boyfriend and then put it in the kitchen,

Then while I was writing this post,
IMG_20200507_150622.jpg mum turns up, the egg fell as she flew down there,

So I went to get it,

Interesting. She also dropped that feather, which I will put in the cabinet :swoon:

If they start folding your laundry for you that will confirm everything
Now THAT would be very nice! But to be honest, I´ll settle for them not pooping on my balcony! *touching wood, they haven´t in over a day! :fingerscrossed: *

Parents would toss egg shells away so the chicks won't hurt themselves on them, but they don't toss them down from the nest, because it would reveal the nest to predators walking by.
They've probably figured your balcony was a safe spot to drop the egg shells! :D

Is there somewhere I can subscribe to cool bird facts like these? I love them!

So I am sitting here minding my own business, reading through AA.... when I hear that eeeeeeeeeep sound. I´m thinking, hmm, sounds like a baby dove, I look out, and one parent is eating from the hanging feeder, and the baby is on the railing!!!! Wing flicking and begging for food. Obviously the little one is fully feathered now and flew off together!
So happy they actually brought the chick over to eat this time! Only one though, maybe the other stayed in the tree.
Gutted my curtain was pulled close and I couldn´t get a clear video clip, hopefully they come back :)

edit, here´s the bad video, you can just make out the little one on the railing (have to watch in 1080);
