We have 4 bourkes and 4 budgies in an aviary. we put the nest boxes in the aviary yesterday and today a Bourke has decided to sit in the corner of the indoor flight and she’s been there a few hours now. Thankfully it’s at our waist height and not on the ground.

I know we can’t do anything to stop her laying there. Is there anything we can do to stop any of the other birds disturbing her. I have seen and issues but want to help if I can.

latest update - she went outside for a shower and there was no egg. Will keep an eye on this and hope she realises what the nest boxes is for.
yes we would like them to breed

Best thing to do is put a dish in her chosen spot - it will either dissuade her or give her somewhere to lay.
This is what mum does with nest shy budgies.
Then gently number each egg as it is laid and remove the older ones, leaving only one. Use a soft tip marker.
If she then decides this stinks and to go in the nest, you can slowly return the taken eggs.
Once she lays her 4th regardless of where she is - slowly return the eggs that have been taken - do not want her overdoing it.
PS Hope you remembered the Golden Rule = 4 hens need 5 nests.
