I don't own an Eclectus but I might get one, I just have a few questions. Are they nippy? Do their bites hurt? Are they needy? Are they loud? What are the pros and cons of owning one? Also I heard they were hormonal, how do they act, when does it happen, thanks!

Try reading this topic: The Good The Bad and The Ugly about Eclectus Parrots

The really key thing is that eclectus have evolved to have a lot of tropical fruit and vegetables in their diet. They do really badly on fortified pellets. Eclectus owners must prepare a specialised, balanced diets of fresh foods. They don't have pellets to rely on to cover any nutrients that are missing from the diet. This can get expensive depending on where you live and how easily available and cheap tropical fruit is. It also makes it difficult for someone else to take over the bird's care.

Yes to most of the questions, and double yes for females. We humans aren't the best at keeping them healthy and happy for the long term, but it's not impossible. I love Monaco deeply, but I can't bring myself to recommend ekkies except to adopt if you can provide more than a shelter can for an abandoned soul.

Until you can ensure and guarantee that you can take your pets to the vet for medical attention when it’s needed I’d like to suggest you put all thinking about new pets on the back burner. I mean this with no malice.

^^ i fully agree. what if this bird ends up with an illness? if you can't provide your current birds with veterinary care, then i discourage you from increasing your flock.
