My African Grey has always had a problem with one ear after flying into a glass door. Seems like it’s seasonal and he scratches it a lot this time of year. Today I noticed blood around that ear and a small/swollen?? protrusion. He seems fine otherwise…preening, eating etc.

I would book an appointment with your vet to have that checked out especially as it’s bleeding and now has something sticking out of it. Does not sound good or like something that should be left.

I had an appt with a vet this morning but Sammy wouldn’t get in his carrier. He kept biting me so I’m waiting for the vet to call me. Sammy is acting normal, though.

Is your bird towel trained?

For my untame quaker I had to basically get him in a towel and toss him and the towel both into the carrier to take him to the vet.
