Hi my cockatiel Sasha is not well.
She was ok but not now after giving her the correct amount of baytril 2.5% for 7 days she looked better but I got back from my 4 day trip and I saw her looking not well today I woke up and saw her on the floor not moving I thought she was dead but she wasn’t. Her legs stoped working they kinda looked yellow but she wasn’t using her legs at all like she would fall forward I put her in a canopy warmed her up and cuddled her in a towel in tears waiting for her to die but she would get burst of energies. On the way to the vet in the car her legs kinda got strong and she flew to my moms shoulders her legs are kinda weak but getting strong the vet isn’t a specialist so he didn’t attend her. I got meloxicam and baytril but I don’t know what to do.she’s sleeping a lot she’s 30 years old what should I do, I’ve been giving her zooprem pellets are her life pls help I am so scared and worried I don’t know what to do,the avian specialist has spots to attend after 2 weeks. She’s not eating or pooping at all, please help I am Despret

I am so sorry. Where are you located? Maybe we can help you find a vet. I think she needs to be seen asap. The vet you took her to didn't do or say anything?

You may have to face the fact that your bird is very, very old and working herself through a natural progression to death. It sounds very much as if that is occurring.

Give her the meds. if you so choose. Make her as comfortable and warm as possible and offer her her very favorite foods.

Most of all give her all of your love.

I'm so sorry, I'm not sure. When they are older like this it can be so many things and many that are not treatable :(

Both you and your bird's best friend will need time to grieve, so there is nothing you should do now except give the bird you have left all of the attention he wants. You will both recover and only have the very best memories of the bird who died.

I'm very sorry - it always hurts. He's flying high and free now.

I’m so very sorry you lost your long time friend. It’s going to be a tough adjustment for you and your other bird, but you will find comfort in each other.

Sorry for your loss.
Sasha was a boy & from the sounds of it lived a long happy life with you & his birdy friend.

Nothing to do but take the time to grieve & be there for his birdy best friend.

I am so sorry for your loss. 30 is an amazing age for a cockatiel. You are a great bird parent and gave your bird a wonderful long life.

You gave her 30 years, thats some awesome love and care taking. She truly was happy and didn't want to leave you. Lurch was at least 31 when he left me and his vet was amazed when she saw him for a issue and found out he was 20,sh3 said good job, most parrots are lucky to make 20 do to poor care or accidents.
You did everything right for her to have a super long happy life :bluhug: Lurch was a Maxi Pionus and he was always with me from 78 to 2009.
