Duct tape?

I was wondering if duct tape is safe to use in the same room as my budgie. The thing that I'm really worried about is more of the smell than anything. She wouldn't be able to get to it, she wouldn't be around it in the respect that she would be able to step on it or fall on it or anything like that. I know that after a while the smell tends to go away, but to use it in the same room as she's in, is that safe?

Sorry if this is hard to understand, any questions are welcomed.

Nope, dont risk it, the duct tape might be toxic to them if they bite into it or it might emit toxic fumes

I didn’t even think fumes were a possibility with tape. Anyways I've used it in the same room as birds many times, but only in places they don’t really go, because I’d think the gluey stuff is toxic if they eat it.

@JLcribber might know more, but I've got a pretty sensitive nose and I've never been bothered by duct tape. As long as they don't have access to it, it should be fine

I guess I'm with @Mizzely on this. Those who said they can't smell it - really? I think it has a strong odor especially a new roll. However, I don't think its toxic to birds unless they chew on it. Anybody remember a few years ago when people were using it to remove blackheads?

Duct tape has fibers in it, so my vote is NO! If birdie chews it,,,bad bad..

I can’t say I’ve ever noticed a smell with duct tape. Duct tape, electrical tape, painting tape and packing tape have all been used at various times in the same room as my budgie and he was fine.

Common sense people. It’s just tape. If the bird doesn’t have access to it I fail to see the problem.

Ali,

Thank you! I was going to address this but you beat me to it.

Lily will NOT be able to get to the tape or have access to it. It will however be in close proximity to the stand that her cage sits on.

I do really appreciate everyone's responses, thank you everyone!
