We are thinking of adding a few duckies to our little suburban garden. Calls ducks are super cute, but I worry they are too noisy for the suburbs. Does anyone have more first hand experience with call ducks? I am also curious of other duck experiences anyone wants to share.

I had ducks as a young child. We had pekins and they were total dolls, but very loud. :)

Just check with your shire about keeping them Natalie as I know some places won’t allow them. Same for roosters, Chooks- believe it or not, Pigs and a few other regular companion garden pets.
I do remember someone telling me they couldn’t have ducks as they were not allowed to have a body of water the size they would require for ducks but for the life of me I can’t remember who that was or where they were.

I am allowed up to 20 fowls, but no roosters. Very important question to ask!

There is another male with the same look at the same shelter, so I wonder if they could come together?

Ok well my partner was very stoked about ducks, and geese a little larger and might require more grassy areas than what we have, but I sent him the links to the two lovely boys. Will see what he thinks :)

We have a small creek at the back of the property...technically it is on council land. It does dry up when it isn't rainy, so we will set up a some stuff for them. We are still in the brainstorm phase.

How exciting! Mine would match every syllable with honks... It really was obnoxious, and I miss it anyway. Kid pools made her very happy, and foraging (same for my duck) and you'll have endless fertilized water for your garden!
