Hello
Recently, I have been struggling to find good perches for my budgies since most of the ones I've found are mostly in the same shape. I want to get them better perches to better exercise their feet. I found some driftwood online in good shapes for my budgies, I can easily do some handwork and install them into their cage. The only problem is that I'm not sure if driftwood (that I'm buying online) is safe or not. The listing states that the driftwood is made out of timber.

The problem with driftwood is it's any tree fished out of the ocean/lake/beach and then cleaned and dried. You don't know what species it is. Some woods are toxic to birds, and driftwood is hard to identify as we have no seeds, leaves, or barks to use.

Try looking for grapevine, manzanita, or java wood. Those usually have different shapes and textures within them. You can also offer different sizes, like 1/2", 3/4", 1", etc, to provide different textures and variance.
