Urgent Drank 2-3 sips of tea? Vet?

I'm so upset. I ended up coming down with the flu so I've been drinking a lot of ginger black tea today. I looked away for a second to find my mucinex, the moment I turn around I see Patches perched up and going to town drinking my tea. I shoo'd him away and made sure to offer him a bunch of water, but now I'm panicking. I'm usually so good at keeing him out of trouble but being sick and all I wasn't thinking and didn't cover the tea as I normally do. Should I be calling the vet? :(

No just regular black tea, I sliced up some lemons and put some honey in it. He's acting about the same, just biting my feet and annoying me. How toxic is caffeine?

I wouldn't be that worried myself. While yes, there caffeine isn't ideal, for an otherwise healthy bird 2-3 sips is unlikely to do a lot.

My quaker Jingo used to steal my coffee far more than I probably actually caught him doing it.

Oh gosh thank you I was already on the verge of tears calling my family to prepare their goodbyes because I poisoned the bird  He's such an entitled little piece of... we have been discouraging the eating/drinking of our food as much as possible... but no dice. I was eating cheez itz one night and he got so mad I wouldn't give him any that he lunged and tried to open my mouth as I was chewing the cheezit. He really does believe he's a human just like me and you and thus he deserves all the human experiences... even tries to use a fork and spoon like me as well...

I'm brewing him his bird safe tea, and will keep a better eye on mine next time. Thank you all for your advice :loveshower:

It's been a while since I had a bird so insistent on sharing my food or drink. Then I got Quibble  He is a little thief!

That's exactly how Patchy is! You turn your back for even a minute and he will find ways to break into the pantry, open things up etc. One time he got into the flour bag.... the only evidence reamining was his little floury feet marks all over the floor. People talk about food motivated.... mine is food oriented. He once flew up to the top of our ceiling on one of the lights, begged for him to come down for hours, wasn't until I opened up a bag of chips that he came down. :shifty:
