Dollar store jute rope

Hi! I'm just wondering if dollar store jute rope would be fine for stringing up/making toys? It doesn't seem to have a chemical scent when I sniff it, but it was pretty cheap, so I'm wondering if it would be safe for my bird. He likes to bite on things while exploring and also likes to climb with his beak. Thanks!

Ask the brand of it whether it's treated with chemicals/anything added.
Better safe than sorry :)

Another good thing to do is soak the rope with dawn dishwashing liquid to get any oils out. I bought some brown thin twine for bird toys and it smelled oily so I soaked and rinsed it well.

I don't know. If it was my bird it would be a no go. The company is most likely based out of China, and they might redistribute it under an American label. Even though the price is right I'd still go with an avian toy part supplier. More expensive for some products but worth the peace of mind. Just IMHO.
