PTFE has been banned in a lot of places around the world. So you'll likely see a lot of items that proudly proclaim that they are PTFE free. PFOA however is still used in a ton of non stick stuff.

Use PTFE and PFOA free items. If it doesn't specify on the package, contact the manufacturer.

There are very very few non stick coatings in the whole world that do not have PFOA or PTFE- even ceramic and stone non stick can be dangerous because they have to use the dangerous stuff to make the non stick coating stick.
Most companies word things in a way to make it sounds like they are totally safe non stick items when they actually are not which is why we tell people they want to look for PTFE and PFOA free cookware.

"Teflon" is an actual non stick coating brand name, so, not all of todays non stick coatings are known as "Teflon" which is why it is more important to search for PTFE, PFOA or PFAS free cookware.
