They can talk if they want to. Not many do, though.

I think Digby tries to talk and mimic noises. Whenever the dogs bark, sometimes she will make this funny sounding chirp and it kind of sounds like she is trying to bark. Last week, she kept making a two syllable sound that sort of sounded like Duh-duh (perhaps trying to say Digby?).

A month or so ago my Sunshine Senegal whispered "Hello" in my ear for the very first time. I have had her for ten years. She hasn't talked since. She does sit around on my shoulder muttering under her breath, but nothing I can actually pinpoint as words. It doesn't matter if she never talks again; it was just wonderful hearing that one word.

My lovebird does a chirp that is the same tone and length that I swear is "love you" only it's "whooo woo". I also had a sun conure (Mom's bird) that whispered his name (Jessie) after 3 years....haven't heard him say it since. He does say "step up" and "bye bye" though, so not as new. It's possible!

My birdie nephew, Noel, uses a call which sounds exactly like "come 'ere". When we say it back to him he always flys over to us.

I swear Kito says Pretty Bird. At the time, I looked it up on Youtube to see if it was possible that she was really was talking. Apparently she isn't the only one.:)
