Last night I posted a photo of this little one because she was too cute. Today she ate out of my hand for the first time and stole my heart. Tonight I had to stand in the vet's car park while she was put to sleep. The breeder put rings on both legs that were too chunky but also really tight. She got it caught and snapped her ankle. I told the vet that money was no issue if it came to saving her. I actually burst into tears on the way home. The fact that she was a baby just destroys me. I think a surgery charging £160 because it's "out of hours" at a surgery that is open 24 hours a day is more than a little exploitative though. If one person says to me tomorrow that it's just a canary...
