My Ninja air fryer has a dehydate feature. So I tried a few things.

Sweet potato (was already cooked) will try raw next time.

Banana slices, came out pretty good
A green bean, was still soft, maybe needed more time
And some already shredded cabbage, broccoli slaw, carrots. This stuff really shrunk and was dried perfectly.

Not too bad, I will try a few more. Still fun experimenting. :)

Wow! How long did the air fryer thing take to dehydrate those?
The very thin slaw pieces maybe 1.5 hours. All total, the banana and sweet potato maybe 2 hours.

I have apple to try tomorrow. I know long ago reading ip on this, you can soak the banana and apple in lemon juice prior so it won't turn brown. I only have apple cider vinegar, might rinse them in that with water first.

Ewwww- lemon juice or ACV?? I do pineapple juice or orange juice (pineapple works better) for apple and banana or anything that will go rusty brown.
Can I ask what temp they’re drying at in your air fry thingy?
I’m quite interested in this new way to dehydrate lol.

Oh how cool! Josh wants an air fryer and I keep saying we don't need it. :hmmm:
They are EXCELLENT! Just snacks that are frozen cook right up. Sometimes Dave will make mozzarella sticks the frozen ones. Comes out great.

I can do fish, chicken wings are the bomb. You can cook a burger in it, skinless chicken breast. The roast feature is great to roast frozen brussel sprouts.

So much you can do. Now it has a whole new purpose here lol for the birds.

Thank you for answering all my questions. Very interesting little appliance indeed. If only I didn’t already own more kitchen appliances than I need :/

I've been thinking off & on about the Ninja, I believe. All the internals are Stainless right? I fear to ask what the price was for it. Long infomercials, I change the channel before the $ amount comes on.

I am not sure about the internals. It was a gift, so I don't know the price of it. I do know it is safe for birds, I looked it up way long ago.

Replacement parts are easy to get, we already ordered a new crisper plate. Makes fast cooking like fish (flounder) think fresh chicken tenders breaded within 8 mins. Reheating meats like leftover steak perfect, fried chiken etc.

If you have an Instant Pot, I think they have an air fryer lid.

Thin slices, and the 2nd batch of thicker cuts and a few wedges.

Wedges, still soft in the middle, but they are good!

I just want to make sure there are others using this brand that have birds in the household..we will definitely forgo having an air fryer if its unsafe for our sennie!!!

Ninja uses a PTFE and PFOA free ceramic coating. I have their Grill/Air Fryer :)

I also have the ninja air fryer/grill like Mizzely. Ours is used a lot and often with the birds in the same room.

Dunno if you're a vegetarian, but if you're not, one of the tastiest uses for a dehydrator is homemade jerky. Alton Brown has a good basic jerky recipe available online.

@Tazlima I am a vegetarian, but I love Alton Brown's show. I especially got a kick out of his vinegar collection episode. :)
