We lost our 9 year old budgie in December, and for the first few months I wasn't ready to think about a new feathered friend. Lately it's been in my thoughts a lot. I still love budgies and may go that route again, but also find I'm very drawn to GCCs. I've found it very helpful to read the "Good Bad & Ugly" threads as well as other posts about behaviours. The main hesitation has been hearing about how nippy they can be, as their beaks can obviously do a fair bit more damage than a budgie. Today I befriended a cute wildtype GCC who let me give scritches through the bars at a pet store. It was really nice to have that positive experience. I'm going to keep thinking about this for a while. Thanks for listening and please feel free to add your experiences in bringing home a new species after living with a cute little budgie.

Take your time deciding :)

If you go choose the GCC, be sure to interact with them too - not all may be the same as the guy you already met.
