Pictures Cuttlefish Quality: Do they get moldy?

I keep forgetting to post this but I had ordered A&E Cuttlebone online and when I opened it the back of each cuttlebone had brownish sections and spots. As if it was moldy. Is this normal?

Cuttlefish bones don´t go mouldy because they are bones. Unless there is something on them that goes mouldy - eg. if your bird splats some fruit on it.
I have seen that brownish hue before. You can boil it in water with a tsp ACV and clean it with a scrubbing brush if you are unsure. But it seems ok from the photos.
I don´t give cuttle fish bones to all of my birds, just the ones who like to file beaks on them as they are not a staple. I don´t buy them, I collect them on the beach and clean them.

Cuttlefish are basically a bird toy. If you want to increase calcium for your bird please do it with high calcium food like raw sesame seeds and greens. You can also supplement calcium.

Thank You. I wasn't sure what it was so I didn't bother using it. Unfortunately I did break one while trying to scrap it clean. So I'll definitely use the boiled water and vinegar tip. I'll also check out the Sesame Seed and Greens because I think my bird might be low on that. So Thank You both for the responses and have a wonderful day.
I'm off to make my other thread because I have a different problem I have to discuss.

Just remember, if they´re for your birds to play with fine, but for diet, they don´t do much, so not really worth the money. Just something to remember when you want to repurchase.
